What is a Confirmation Gate?
A confirmation gate is a quality threshold in the Crypora signal engine that distinguishes a forming setup from one that has sufficient multi-factor confirmation to be considered actionable. This article explains what confirmation means and why it matters.
What is confirmation?
In technical analysis, "confirmation" means that multiple independent data points agree with each other. A signal based on a single indicator is fragile — one piece of data can be noise. A signal that multiple independent indicators, volume data, and timeframe analysis all agree on is more robust.
Crypora requires a minimum number of confirming factors before a signal is upgraded from "forming" to "confirmed." This is the confirmation gate.
The eight analytical gates
The confirmation gate is part of a broader eight-gate system. Each gate checks one specific condition:
- Trend alignment across multiple timeframes
- Entry validity — price within the logical entry zone
- Volume supporting the directional bias
- News filter — no adverse high-impact news
- BTC macro alignment for altcoin signals
- Volatility within acceptable bounds
- Adequate market liquidity
- Data freshness — inputs recent enough to be reliable
All eight must pass for execution-ready status. The confirmation gate specifically covers trend alignment and entry validity — the core requirements for a setup to be considered structurally sound.
What happens when a signal is not confirmed
When a signal fails the confirmation gate, Crypora shows the signal in an educational state. You can see the analysis, understand what is missing, and practice the setup in sandbox. The CTA shown will be "Set Alert" or "Practice in Sandbox" rather than "Review Setup" — making it clear that this signal is not yet at an actionable stage.
Beginner example
Imagine ETH looks like it is forming a potential upward setup. The short-term trend is pointing up. But the medium and long-term trends are still bearish. The confirmation gate requires at least two timeframes to align. Result: signal is "forming" — educational only. The system suggests: "Set an alert for when medium-term trend aligns. Practice this setup in sandbox while you wait."
Three days later, the medium-term trend turns bullish. Now two timeframes align, volume is rising, and news is neutral. The confirmation gate passes and the signal is upgraded to "Watch for Entry."
Frequently asked questions
Why does Crypora show a signal if it's not confirmed?
An unconfirmed signal still has educational value — it shows you a setup that is forming and gives you context to watch. Hiding unconfirmed signals entirely would remove useful market intelligence. The confirmation gate tells you clearly: this is interesting but not yet actionable.
How long does it take for a signal to get confirmed?
It depends on market conditions. Some setups confirm within an hour; others take days or never confirm if conditions change. Confirmation is not a timer — it is a quality threshold.
What is a 'Set Alert' CTA?
When a signal is not yet confirmed, Crypora may offer a 'Set Alert' option. This lets you receive a notification when the confirmation conditions are met, so you don't have to watch the chart continuously.
